What will I be doing in this course?

Industrial Technology Graphics Technologies Stage 6 consists of project work, an Industry Study that develops a broad range of skills and knowledge related to the graphics industry, and an introduction to industrial processes and practices. This is a predominantly practical subject. Preliminary students will be required to complete two minor practical graphics projects (one term each), while the HSC component requires students to produce a major project of their choice. This project generally runs over the course of one year and includes a comprehensive management folio.

The Focus Area is Graphics Technologies.

In the Preliminary Course students will study:

·         Industry Study – structural, technical, environmental and sociological factors, personnel issues, Occupational Health and Safety

·         Design and Management – designing, drawing, computer applications, project management

·         Workplace Communication – literacy, calculations, graphics

·         Industry-specific Content and Production

·         Preliminary students will be required to complete two minor practical projects and management folios. These will include one manually drawn formal drawing and one digital drawing produced using CAD software.

In the HSC Course students will study:

·         Industry Study

·         Design and Management

·         Industry-specific Content and Production

·         The main focus for the HSC year is a student directed major project and management folio. This would be produced using CAD software and examples of the type of projects created may include: a scaled architectural drawing of a building, a 3D model of a product or vehicle.

In the Preliminary course, students must design, develop and construct a minimum of 2 projects. In the HSC course, students must design, develop and construct a major project with a management folio.
