Why study Industrial Technology?

 

Industrial Technology; Building & Construction allow students to develop skills that will stay with you throughout your life. This subject will also give you the grounding for further study in VET Construction in years 11 & 12; both these subjects groom students for the building trades.

 

Working in the Building& Constructionindustry involves:

 

  • OHS and Risk Management
  • Materials, Equipment, tools and machinery
  • Communication Skills for industry
  • Working in teams to complete projects.
  • Bricklaying, Paving , Concreting and Carpentry

Course description:

 

This course develops student knowledge and skills relating to the selection, use and application of materials, tools, machines and processes in CONSTRUCTION through the planning and production of quality projects. 

This course continues the pattern of study for students who chose Industrial Technology: Timber 100. Each topic will be explored in greater detail and extension activities will be included.

 

Course Structure:

Industrial Technology Building & Construction (100 indicative hours)

 

  • OH&S practices in the workshop.
  • Planning and production.
  • Production and reading drawings.
  • Hand and Power tools
  • Equipment & Machines
  • Materials and costing

 

Assessment: 

Student assessment in this subject will be based on the practical projects undertaken throughout the course.

 

The qualifications possible from a study of the Industrial Technology Building & Construction course:

100 Hour School Certification
