Year 5 McLachlan

Welcome to 4/5M's Homepage!!

Parent Information

Welcome to 4/5M for 2011. Hopefully this information sheet will help answer questions you may have regarding your child this year.

Class Expectations

The following are class rules that the students have agreed to follow.

  • Be kind to others
  • Take pride in your work.
  • Remember the Core Values.
  • Respect your peers.
  • Respect School property.

Literacy

Students will take part in Reading groups every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (even weeks 2, 4, 6 etc.) The groups will run between 8:35 – 9:30 and any parent helpers would be appreciated.

Maths

The students will be learning from the ‘Exemplary Maths Program'. Students will be engaging in both individual and group work from 8:30 – 9:30 (odd weeks 1, 3, 5 etc) Once again if you are available to come in and assist with group work Monday to Thursday it would be appreciated.

DEAR

Every student needs a book to read every day in DEAR (Drop Everything And Read)

Library

The students will have an opportunity to borrow every Wednesday between 9:30 - 10:30.

Home Reading

Please encourage and support your child in doing this every night as it is essential to their development in their progress in literacy especially if they are not at grade level. It is considered to be part of their Homework every night.

Homework

This will be given out every Monday and collected on Friday. If your child is away on Monday please remind them to collect their homework the next day.

Late notes and Absent notes

Students who arrive late must obtain a late note form the office before coming to class. All notes for days absent must be returned within 7 days or an unexplained absence is recorded. Please include your child's full name and class as well as a reason for their absence.

For example: John Smith 4/5M was absent due to illness. Signed and dated.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year.  Please feel free to arrange a time to discuss any concerns you may have.

Yours in Education,

Mr Jade McLachlan
